Wolfgang Tribute Car

Post by Wolfie Fan »

Hey all,

Many of you know that I have been on a journey over the past several years called the "Wolfgang Project" to model as many subjects that my boyhood and still hero Doug Wolfgang piloted. I had always wanted to do a Tribute Model, to thank him for all the laps I enjoyed cheering the man on, but couldn't find the inspiration in how to do this project justice. A month and a half ago it hit me with what you see here. Inspiration came from the Wiekert's 29 in which his success vaulted him to into the "Big 3" with Steve and Sammy. It was probably my most intense decaling subject with research for some of his significant rides and pictures of which were placed in black and white throughout the car as well as significant stats of his career. Several frame mods and updates were fabricated by myself as well as a right mudguard of my own design, left mudguard, lower cockpit mudguards as well as those in front of the engine, wing slider and an up to date full enclosure seat, front bumper and the headers were customized by myself. Aftermarket items were wheel covers by Dirt Modeler and engine oil pan, hood, air cleaner and front wing from The Parts Box. I am truly happy with the result and I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I did modeling it and now showing it off. My only disappointment is that this was intended to be the "Grand Finale" to the Wolfgang Project...but I now have found nice reference material for the 39 car he won the Jackson Nationals in during his comeback so the project goes on! Thanks for looking...Wolfie Fan.
