RJ Johnson's USAC/CRA #51 Sherman

Post by Novamodeler3 »

Yeah, that's right! A full build! This one is going to RJ Johnson in Phx. We worked out a deal before I went on vacation, and he'll be getting a car hopefully in a few weeks. The variation of his 51 is going to be the Sherman coil over front end car.

RJ is currently leading the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars points chase, and has 8 or 9 wins on the season.

As for the build, I've already completed the chassis, and now comes the fun of front suspension.. Ill keep pictures going up on here, the SSC Facebook, Twitter page (@SWScaleChassis), and Instagram (@sprintbuilder).

That will be cool and what a great driver RJ Johnson has been this year. That looks like maybe a Beast chassis? I am just getting ready to start one real simular to that for the AZ Motorsports guy in Phoenix. It will be the 02 Beast of JJ Yealy's, the ABC car. Can't wait to see yours coming together.

The 51 and 77 are Sherman cars. And I never saw Yeley in the ABC car. LOVE that orange scheme!

Here he is in the ABC Beast car from about 2002. This one was blue and a coil over as well.Image

I didn't know Sherman also builds chassis. Is it Jeramey Sherman or his family? They are simular to a Beast, don't you think?

I thought Yeley ran a Twister chassis during that era?

You are correct, sir, my mistake. I built it as a Twister with coil over front and reverse bar rear.

I'll update this one, as I forgot I put up a thread. But, Basically, its not finished. I left it as a rolling chassis, minus rear radius rods back in August. I had to cut my losses due to the deployment and moving out of the house. Now, I've got the car here with me, but no way to continue the work. This will be picked back up when I get home, and I will focus on it, as well as 2 more full builds for Kraig Kinser and another Ziehl build.

Here's the latest picture of the car and where it stands now. Image

It will get the gull treatment of decals (Joe) :D and accurate paneling to represent the car as best I can.

Look for update on this in the late winter, early spring!
