2012 Shane Stewart Kick It 57

Post by bhgseve »

Finally getting around to another project after what seems like 2 years since the last one! 2012 Kick It foundation car driven by Shane Stewart during the 12 Knoxville Nationals. This will probably be a slow project, but I at least have a decent start on it! Frame was scratchbuilt from Evergreen rod, primed and painted with Sikkens automotive paints. Body panels also scratchbuilt from Evergreen sheet, and the resin hood is from The Parts Box. I'm using all of the available Dirt Modeler photoetch parts on this as well, along with Joe's decals. So far the frame is finished and the body panels are pretty much ready to go, have some changes to make to the hood to get it to fit and the fuel tank to make, then the body is about finished. The next step is to start the cockpit area and get it squared away, then will start hanging the suspension and see how far I can take this thing! Here is where it is now:

Looks great! Killer chassis work and good job with the wheels! Those look like the die cast wheels and tires?

And I gotta know where you got the brass for the wing tree mounts and wing ram tabs??

Thanks Justin! Yeah, the tires are from an Action die cast, but the wheels are actually modified kit wheels, I cut out the center of the wheel and sanded the back side of it flat so it would fit the photo etch center better. I'm not 100% happy with them yet, but it's a start. And for the brass wing mounts, I used a couple of the small tabs that are on the Dirt Modeler engine plate set...
