Hi Vern

I recently built a TMC sprinter and posted it here on the forum...
The hood that I built the car with is incorrect,it is not a 100% accurate,I just used it because I thought it looked cool,LOL.

The sky's the limit as you don't have to be strictly correct if you don't want to. Some of us love accuracy, but no one here is a rivet counter.
Heres some links to pics of that car from his own website. The first one looks like the hood has a scoop on it. I have plans to recreate that hood if it is scooped for my own built up. Someone here might know if he did run that hood. The hood in the kit is a correct Challenger hood gut most of the pics I've found don't show it to be exactly the same.

Just a quick search thru my pics show 4-5 hoods on the TMC car. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more.

most of the hoods I have seen do not have a hood scoop. I do know he never ran down tube cars until it was required in or around 2000. He also used coil over shocks instead of the standars 4 bar car like everyone useses today. Just thought id mention it if you want to make it super detailed.

I'm pretty sure I have old Openwheel mags somewhere around here with pics of this car in them with a variety of strange hoods on them! I know Sammy was right into the aero on his cars on the big tracks (mile traks) back then..... even remember one of the TMC cars having independent front suspension that Sammy designed, was a work of art ;)

Yeah, I''m pretty sure that picture is of Sammy at Syracuse, New York (one-mile track) - hair-raisingly fast for sprint cars I believe.
The Syracuse race had an Outlaws sanction for a while, but not any more I understand.
I think they decided it was too fast and someone was gonna have a real bad wreck if they kept on with the event.
Somewhere, I have an "Open Wheel" magazine article about the particular race that the photo came from - about '92 I think (just guessing though).

I'm almost certain that this is a one-off that Sammy used for the Syracuse mile. One thing to note is the VERY short wheelbase. Sammy liked to run as short a wheelbase as he could get away with. A few others tried it and couldn't drive them. He ran a similar car on short tracks with Channel Lock colors. I'll post a photo if I can find it.
Thanks,
Gary
