Wing Supports

Post by jtmurp02 »

What do you all use when making your own supports for the top/bottom of the wings. I'm just trying to add some to my Revell kit, trying to learn. Thanks for any help.

I use .020" styrene rod, and crimp the ends flat for the mounting plate with a pair of smooth needle nose.

Awesome, thanks for the info. This may sound stupid, but where do it get that? Hobby stores usually carry it?

Evergreen and Plastruct are the top 2 in the biz. I've been using Evergreen for about 5 years now, and always excellent service. Fast shipping. And a great, consistent product.

If you're looking for another route for the wing struts, try a paperclip!

I appreciate it guys. If I'm going to order a sheet of styrene too, to try making my own body panels, etc, do you also recommend .020"? Thanks for all the help, it's been fun getting back into modeling a little bit.

.020 is pretty much my standard for my molds and the panels as well. It's a half inch in 25th scale, but it looks the part when on the car. .005 and .010 is really hard to work with.

Thanks guys. I picked some up at the hobby store and worked with it a little. Working on a 1/24 Revell kit, going to make it Pittmans 2013 car. I'm no professional, but it's a start haha. Will post pics when I can.
