SSC now producing hoods, noses, fuel cells, panels, etc.

Post by Novamodeler3 »

The big secret on the FB has been released. Soon, SSC won't only be the source for chassis, but now parts as well. I've got a lot of things in works, and with some time, I should be a player in the US for the new goodies.

The parts are being produced in a vacu-form process. This allows me to get a few advantages over resin. Number one being scale realism. Ask anyone who has worked with resin, and they'll grunt at the sheer bulkiness at the parts. This is something that's unavoidable due to the mold making process. With Vacuforming, I can make 1 mold of say, the ever popular KKR hood. Then, suck some hot plastic over it and create a perfect match of the master. With the flexibility and thickness that attribute to the often overlooked subject of scale. The first run yielded noses and hoods at .020 thick. 1/2" in 25th scale. Once I get more styrene in, and perfect the process, I can get that number to .010.

At this point, I'm focusing on getting the process as good as the chassis side of the house, as well as getting some good reference of what is wanted by the community. Feel free to email suggestions, and any reference pics/links to me at novamodeler3@aol.com

The SSC Facebook is gonna be the main source for updates as this new division comes into fruition, so keep up with me on there for the latest news.

1 thing to address at the get go: These new parts aren't a solid guarantee that they'll work flawlessly with the RM kit. My original chassis jig was built to suit the kit, but my latest jig has been modified for scale realism, and streamlined for production purposes. It follows along the lines of the first one, but I can't confirm that it's a dead set swap for the chassis in the kit. That being said, all the panels and hoods, etc, are being built to suit my chassis. In time, I'll offer a 'kit'. Chassis and panels included to suit the buyers build. And all panels will be available for individual purchase.

The outlook of this can be some truly KILLER builds. Between the chassis and panels, the ever growing photoetch market, and the absolutely stunning decals from Joe, some great builds are on their way.

I'm definately open to feedback, and look forward to taking this new step in the scale open wheel world. Eyes open on the Facebook, and feel free to email me with your suggestions!

Thanks!

-Justin
