For those who don't live close enough to attend, you can't imagine what it's like to walk into a facility where more than 2000 model cars are on display. It's almost too much for the mind to picture. Then add some of the most prized modeling vendors in two large rooms who temp you with taking ALL of your money by their fantastic products. Both major magazines are busily taking pictures for their respective publications. You left your house at about 6:00 AM knowing that you won't be back until dark, exhausted. You're also on your feet for almost the entire time you're at the show and even though the tables are propped up with PVC pipes after awhile your back goes numb. The quality of the builds are just incredible and your eyes dart from one masterpiece to the next, amazed that every paint job and minute detail is done to near perfection. Even though the subject matter of the build may not be your favorite, you're still fascinated with the quality of the vehicle. You're taking pictures feverishly not wanting to miss a model.
That gives you just a sense of what it's like at the NNL East. If you ever have a chance to attend one of these ....
Met up with Chris and saw his fine # 9 Bud car. Think it was shot by Scale Auto magazine and he got lots of well-deserved complements. Also saw Les from Scale Sprints who was more than willing to take some of my $ (LOL)but handed me more decals for future projects. He brought a nice group of his roundy-rounders to display. And I did finish my Old Spice #20 sprinter complete with a four-stage paint job and 11 hours, yes that's 11, invested in decaling the model. Will shoot pics of it this weekend and have it put onto the site buy great friend Jeff (Sprintfan/Sarge). Or you can go to the Model Cars Magazine forum, find the NNL east pics and look at the pics Gregg Hutchings shot for the magazine. Mine is # 280.
Wish there were more sprint cars on display but our two cars made our own statement.
How about our group here? Has anyone on the board ever attended one of there shows? Anyone else attend this show? I'd be interested in your impressions.
Hey Joe, get better soon!!!

I'd love to go to one but the distance(10,000 km or so) is restrictive.

So you just have to leave earlier in the day/week/year. LOL. Isn't there a big model show "Down Under"? They really are a treat.sigmaman wrote:I'd love to go to one but the distance(10,000 km or so) is restrictive.
Quick thanks to Joe for posting the pics MCM shot though I'll still plan to shoot the car this weekend.

Me too! Since it's a lot smaller maybe we can finally meet. Who do we know in common who can introduce us? Mike Cole? Bring some of your sprint cars to show.1edriver wrote:i'm going to the one in MD in 2 weeks

Uh Joe, I could itroduce the two of you guys. That is if I able to go. We shall see.
Re: NNL East
Joe - it was great to see you there, and that nice build of Tony's Ride. Chris - you're no slouch either, my friend... I have pics of both these in my latest update.
From the Toronto area, it's about a 9 hour run -so we left Friday moring, and took in the evening hospitalities. then left after the show getting back to Canada around midnight.
The models were amazing as always - I was amazed at how the NASCAR scene has collapsed in the two years since I was last there!! Also amazed by the upswing in short track modelling!
